Thanks to Anita Lamar’s wonderful work on our newsletters, the Henry County Bar Association not only was chosen as the recipient of the Newsletter Award but we were also chosen as co-recipient of the Law Day Award from the State Bar of Georgia for the 2016 local and voluntary bar awards. These are photos from the annual meeting in Amelia Island where we accepted the awards on behalf of the Henry County Bar! On April 22, 2016 the HCBA celebrated Law Day by hosting an event for its members at the Henry County Superior Court. The Superior Court’s Chief Judge, Arch W. McGarity, led the attendees in renewing their Attorney’s Oath. Bobby Lee Cook, a nationally recognized defense attorney, served as the speaker at this event. The bar’s current president, Pandora E. Palmer, made a special presentation to Kim Maddox with the Henry County Sheriff’s Department for her contributions to the bar during the past several years involving the mock trial competitions and Law Day celebrations. The Law Day Celebration concluded with a catered luncheon for all attendees. It was a well-attended event, with over half of the bar’s members, as well as several judges, in attendance. On March 12, 2016 the Henry County Bar Association, along with the help of local BAR members and the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar, hosted a Wills Clinic for local law enforcement and first responders at the Henry County Courthouse. Attorney's volunteering for the clinic provided a last will and testament and healthcare directive for both the participant and their spouse at no cost.
